Moshing Weekend
Tool's greatest breakthrough was to introduce dark, vaguely underground metal to the preening pretentiousness of art rock. Or maybe it was introducing the self-absorbed pretension of art rock to the wearing grind of post-thrash metal -- the order really doesn't matter. Though Metallica wrote their multi-sectioned, layered songs as if they were composers, they kept their musical attack ferociously at street level. Tool didn't -- they embraced the artsy, faux-bohemian preoccupations of Jane's Addiction while they simultaneously paid musical homage to the dark, relentlessly bleak visions of grindcore, death metal, and thrash. Even with their post-punk influences, they executed their music with the ponderous, anti-song aesthetic of prog rock, alternating between long, detailed instrumental interludes and tuneless, pseudo-meaningful lyrical rants in their songs. Tool, however, had a knack for conveying the strangled, oppressive angst that the alternative nation of the early '90s claimed as their own. So, the band was able to slip into the definition of alternative rock during the post-Nirvana era, landing a slot on the third Lollapalooza tour in 1993, which helped their first full length debut album, Undertow, rocket into platinum status. By the time the band delivered their belated follow-up, Aenima, in 1996, alternative rock had lost its grip on the mainstream of America, and their audience had shaped up as essentially metal-oriented, which meant that the group and the record didn't capture as big an audience as their first album, despite debuting at number two on the charts. When their first full-length album was released in 1993 (they released an EP a year earlier), Tool won lots of fans with their grinding, post-Jane's Addiction heavy metal. With their dark, angry lyrics and numbing guitar drilling, they appealed both to metalheads and alternative rock fans. When they landed an opening spot on Lollapalooza, their audience grew by leaps and bounds; the increased exposure helped their debut album, Undertow, go gold. Its 1996 follow-up, Aenima, was also a success.
After a co-headlining slot with Korn on Lollapalooza '97 wrapped up, Tool remained on the road, supporting Aenima until well into the next year. During their usual extended hiatus between albums, Keenan decided to use his downtime productively by forming a side project, dubbed A Perfect Circle. The band's 2000 debut, Mer de Noms, was a surprise hit, while their ensuing tour was a sold-out success as well. With Tool break-up rumors swirling, the band put the speculation to rest by re-entering the recording studio and issuing the stop-gap B-sides/DVD set Salival late the same year. May 2001 finally saw the release of Tool's third full-length release, Lateralus, which debuted at the number one position on the Billboard album chart and became the band's biggest hit.

Speak of Souls
Well, me myself would like to forward a due apology for my long hiatus. My life has never been a quiet one. A roller coaster ride simply failed to describe precisely what had happened to me. However, the most important thing is, i am still surviving and rocking. Last month i guess, some of us might had been stirred by a topic in Budu's column. I am not excluded. A topic of something about oversea student bla bla bla. However, thats not important on what i want to say here. I confronted Ed on that topic and told him I wanted to comment on something.. but my fingers simply can't type what my mind was thinking. And i do remember Ed told me just to let it out. Nonetheless, I guess that applied to everyone of us as well.
So, after all the blabbering.. I shall start on something really. During Ramadhan, at one of the berbuka puasa gathering here, I had been approached by this one fella. Talkative, friendly and tried to start a conversation he was. And he carelessly pop up a topic about Kelana Convoy (he was wearing a K.C t shirt with his name printed on it and asked me to find it..wierdo). So the conversation turn out to be quite interesting one. More or less he asked me about where have i been touring since i step my foot in UK. Not much really, most part of the UK and Scotland, Amsterdam twice and Italy twice and thats about it. This guy started saying i'm missing something and offering me the idea of joining K.C trip to actually see Europe. The big question is, do I really missing something??
For most of us, the chances of studying oversea is something really spectacular. Don't mind the quality of the degree been offered, but the experience is such an overwhelm one. And travelling across Europe is part of the package not mention in the initial offer. It is like killing the whole generation of birds with one stone. However, each part and parcel came with how we show our appreciation on it including the travelling. Some might say they have been to so many places and some might ended up here and there. No disrespect to people who actually joined the K.C thingy. For me, it just a waste of time, energy and money. And you can't really say you appreciated each destination you have been in a short while.
Travelling should be something sacred or more like a short pilgrimage for us in order to enlighten our life. It doesn't matter where do you go, what is your mission or who you go with. It should be more like what are you going to do while you are there and how it will affected your life. My perfect vacation will be something like not too short or too long time limits, maybe couple of places nearby and just right with my budget. Simply said I want to have the space and time where i can breath their airs, step on their lands, learn their story, listen to their music, share their burden, know their politics, maybe speak a bit of their lingo, read their papers, eat their food, drink their beer, taste their wine, fuck their women, or get high on their tooka. Doesn't meant it literally though but i guess you got what i meant.
And again, probably it is fair for me to say, the choices is up to you. Wether you prefer to go to some places like a bunch of idiots wearing the same clothes, in a huge group, and everyone having their own camera and taking the same pose all over again or to be an avid enthusiastic traveller.

Ramadhan Al-Mubarak
Assalamualaikum and greetings to all...
I hope all of my bloodyhell mates are in the pink of health. It's been a while since I last kept in touch with most of you, but I hope things are going great. It's been almost a year now that Ive been workin in Kertih and I have to admit that Im beginning to like it here - the sun, the seasands, the beaches, the quiet town and the tall columns...
Nothing much to say, it's just that Id like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a happy Ramadhan. May we all take the opportunity, in this holy month, to open up our hearts with honesty and remain thankful with what we have.
It's sad that I dont have ample opportunity to spend times with you, but I hope that by being apart makes our bond grow stronger. I have never forgotten all the good deeds that all of you have done to me, for me, and that I pray that Allah will reward you with the greatest reward money cant buy.
Selamat bersahur, menahan lapar & dahaga, dan selamat berbuka puasa. May all of us have a blessed Ramadhan.
Take care and God speed...
Lookin forward to your Eid Greeting Cards and also Walimatul-Urus to be mailed to me/us on the address below...

MASCHERANO!!!
but on the other hand, there is tevez....who to me, was the reason why argentina lost to germany in quaters....but maybe he wasn't mature enough to perform and do well for argentina at that stage and i hope he shines for west ham...apart from that, i still think west ham needs and should buy a realiable defender....someone like gabriel milito or during the 80's era, el cabezon- oscar ruggeri......some who can take command and direct defenders on the pitch....i think that's west ham's weakness right now....
and yes syad, aku yang persuade mascherano dtg West Ham....p.s/ el cabezon means the big headed-one.....so maybe we could start calling jaz el cabezon? muahahahaha

bloody bubbles!
In addition to that, noone expected West Ham to win any trophies this season...so it was a good season for West Ham ...unlike Man U, who so-call could trouble Chelsea in the chase for the Premiership who could only win League Cup...
Also, it can be said that West Ham is second in the competition and above the more glamorous clubs like Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal...thus i guess i'm blowing bubbles anyways...
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,They nearly reach the sky
And like my dreams they fade and die!
Fortunes always hiding,I've looked every where.
I'm forever blowing bubbles,Pretty bubbles in the air!
Booyeah muahahahha
p.s/ syad is still gay!

Ladies...The World Cup is almost here!!
These rules are to be communicated prior to the World Cup in June/July this year...
List Of Rules.
1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.
2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).
3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.
4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor...it wont happen.
5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.
6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce.
7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".
8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.
9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.
10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.
11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".
12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc etc.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Regards,
Men of the World
Ironically, Niza sent this to me, how thoughtful of her..right guys?hahahaha

The missus is back
Sorry for the lack of updates on this site. Been absolutely busy, us PNB slaves had an exam last week, and the Imaan is back for Easter.
Last Sunday Imaan, Bubu, Izrin (my MCKK junior) and I played in the Keadilan Kelana Jaya Bowling tournament. Our team, known as the KMYS Bowlers got first place... from the bottom ;). We plan to organise a futsal tournament this August, so do come and play!
And congratulations to Liverpool who won 1-0 thanks to Fowler. I think next season Morientes should be sold-off, as at least Cisse can operate on the wings.
Anyway, guys, nak jemput makan ni. April 16th (Sunday) 12.30 pm onwards at my house. Ada BBQ sikit. Just you guys and some PNB friends. Dina wajib datang! Sadly, won't be cooking my legendary curry, although I'm sure Imaan's cheesecake is a reasonable substitute. Cili padis will be provided.

The least effective drug
So, I have thus vowed that since I have had the honour of being invited and thence joined this Boy's Club (why is Dina the only girl then? is it because she's the secretary?! ok then, I'm sure she's a good secretary and we all know what secretaries do best) that I will try and put some input into this site, like the fellow executive members of this group like Mr Dato & Kroni who have courteously given their precious times to give others a chance to be updated on their do abouts of daily lives, at least once week. I say this today when I am in the midst of swapping rotations. Of course I can't be certain but at least there's the 'at least'.
Short update on the paintballing which coincided with Sheffield's iGig and Warwick Games - good fun, won the day's tournament by 130points to 55points, basically they got thrashed but we enjoyed bruising and but not so much on getting bruised (unless you're weird). It's been an idea since ages to do one similar for our batch. We all know how much we used to skip class or stayed up all night back in the 'Bootboys Days' just to click our mice and shoot one another at de_dust/aztec.
This week I have just completed my obstetric & gynaecology rotation. Delivering babies ain't so hard, provided you're not the one screaming your head off trying to push the poor baby's head out of your fully dilated effaced cervix. You just get used to all the screaming, huffing and puffing (now Hariz plz, behave!), and screaming, and screaming, and screaming, oh and the blood too! and don't worry, if it takes too long there's always the ventouse or metal forceps to pull the baby out. I'm just glad I'm on the right end of the bed.
My O&G exams ended on Tuesday. Questions like,"which of these is the least effective drug in the treatment of so and so.." still bug me! You ask most effective drug I know la! Oh well, maybe I'm just finding excuses for not learning pharmacology inside out. I had to hand in my 5000 word elective portfolio today. Again me, being the known procrastinator I started 2 days ago (another year's resolution down the drain!). For my electives which is starting in July, I have planned to see what Medicine is like in Mauritius, yup, going all the way to the tropical sunny island for the Medicine. sure! 4 weeks there and then 2 weeks in HUKM and a further 2 weeks in HKL before a 3 week summer holiday. Hopefully I can make it for Mr Ghazali's wedding, where is it eh?(update la k*te!) But before all that, it's always the question about money - something the PNB crew always, always jump for joy first thing they wake up to, I've been reminded. For me, it's back to the good old long hours in Lilly-freakin-cheap-whites then.
There's an UMNO football tourney this Sunday at Regent's Park (I'm sorry Budu, since you're not here, and the fact that I love football just a bit more than I love Keadilan) I've decided to join and play with some of my usual mates from King's. I heard that Cherap & Shidi are off to bella Italia, so I guess I won't be seeing them then. Although Cherap is in London, the last time I saw him was..hmm.. let me remember.. Warwick Games 05! It's been over a year since I saw or even played football with the fellow bloodyheller! (hey man, weather's getting better - jom tennis! aku tau la kau terror, bladihell!)
So is the rambling for this week. I get no holidays for Easter. Monday is the first day of Paediatrics+Geriatrics+Dermatology (kanak2+org2 tua+kulit). I can only look forward to that...

its not easy to stop smoking..tough cookie beb..most of us are already addicted to the nicotine in the cigs..it takes a lot of will power to stop but hey its for ur own benefits..ive stopped buying cigs for almost 4mnths n am loving it..i do smoke sometimes, mostly when i hang out with ed or salman(they didnt offer at all) but it is better to smoke 1 stick per week rather than 10-15 sticks everyday..if u can go cold turkey from the start, its even better..n owh i do smoke shisha once in a while..ehehe..but the most important thing is to try because u know that the tobacco is not good for ur health..whether u agree or not,i think most of us started smoking because we wanna look cool..in school, only the rebellious smoke n the nerds were in the library..but the time has passed n theres no need for u bloodyhellboys to smoke anymore..i dont wanna see any of u in the operation room having a bypass surgery in the next 15 yrs..so stop smoking eh or at least cut the number of ur daily cigs DRASTICALLY..ive had no chest pain in the morning anymore..huhu

Warwick Games 2006
Shidi,Syad and I had a great time in Warwick this year. The football was good (although losing in the quarterfinal), but what was most important to us was just hanging out, and bitching about the rest of u bloodyhellboys.Thank you so much Dina and Arep for sharing ure house and especially ure food, with us. There weren't many of our batch left at the games. It was kinda sad seeing the juniors laughing and walking around in big groups..Its like looking back to the past, and realizing that our time has passed. Boo-fucking-hoo and all yadayadayada...Here are some of our pics in action, yes, syad dribbled skillfully but didnt score, Shidi had a great chance, almost scoring with a freekick, and yes boys, i made up for my sins, i scored 2 penalties, one during a game and one during a shootout (its so shitty the way my last tournament here in the UK gave me the chance to make up for my 2 missed penalties during previous years). Hope u guys forgive me for missing them during our time..(i know im going to get a lot of stick for saying that).

3-2-1 Go!
Last weekend was yet again another workin weekend for me and this time it was a great one. Altho it was also tiring like hell, it brought excitement not only to me but also to 51 other underprivellaged students from primary schools around Kertih. When my boss assigned me to be the East Coast coordinator for Program Bakti Pendidikan PETRONAS F1 Camp, I know that it was goin to be one hell of a task and I had to do well in making the grade. It was not just about getting free grandstand tickets to watch the race, but it was also to bring cheer to these kids who rarely have this kind of opportunity knocking on their front door...
The camp started on the 16 March when all of us departed for the Grand Olympic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Each school was represented by 4 students and one teacher, plus 1 facilitator from our OPUs (Operating Units) which include Carigali, Penapisan, Gas, Optimal, BPPA and others. The camp included activities such as visiting the Hi-5 bread factory in Shah Alam, visit to PETRONAS Twin Towers' Skybridge, Petrosains and also had a special spot to witness the BMW Heritage Race Cars Demonstration on the 18th March 2006 on front of the twin towers.
The climax of the camp was on the raceday itself, 19th March 2006. Before departing for Sepang International Circuit, we were treated with a tour around Putrajaya. It's been a while since I last been there and I could see a lot has been done to that place. We reached SIC around 12 noon and all of us went straight to the Diamond Grandstand, having to be seated in front of the starting grids. The kids were amazed and it touched my soft spot having to see them enjoying themselves altho they did not really understand a lot about the race.
Some people say "apa la gunanya bawak budak-budak sekolah rendah kampung ni nengok F1 - diorang bukannya faham pun..."
Yes, maybe for now they might not understand but children have good photographic memory and they might remember this for the rest of their lives. Having brought to the F1 Grand Prix, all of us at PETRONAS hope that, one day, they would have the passion to be involved with these kind of things - automotive engineering, becomin professional races and whatnot. We did not bring them there for nothing and this is also part of our responsibility to the community - giving back what we receive and share it with others...
During the race, I was reunited with some of our old friends like Kerol (January Batch), Reza and others. I also got close to one of the grandstand stewardesses, thee hee hee... At the end of the day, altho it was hectic havin to take care of the kids and makin sure that they enjoy the race, the smiles on their faces made my day...

Will the Real Liverpool Striker Please Stand Up?
Under Houllier, Liverpool was very much a defensive team. More often than not, we nicked goals even when the Reds lacked possession through a Gerard long ball that was perfect for Owen, whose speed would convert that into a goal. Then, in my mind I thought that they would never be the leading team in the Premiership until their game became a bit more positive and they dominate the game.
At the moment Liverpool has started to dominate game, this year even more so than last. We still rely on a tight defence marshalled by the evergreen Hyppia with the hardwork of Carragher. Our midfield is superb (interestingly I think Liverpool play better when Sissoko is in central defence along with Alonso, with Gerrard in rightwing), dominating the game with superb technique and flow.

Knackered...
As a representative from the East Coast office assisting the execs from UTP and Education Sponsorship unit, my role was to brief to the visitors about our operations in Kertih with the aid of our petroleum refining and gas processing flowchart. However what most of the visitors were interested in, apart from the difference between sweet crude and sour crude, was the explanation as to why the price of petrol increases. Gladly I was able to provide sufficient information on that matter altho some of them still not satisfied with it and still wanting to have PETRONAS as the scapegoat.
In the afternoon of Friday the 3rd, my counterparts in KLCC called me up to inform that there was a demonstration in front of our headquarters and they were not allowed to leave the office. I wonder why they wanted to do a demonstration at KLCC when the correct place to do such thing is in front of the Jabatan Perdana Menteri. Thank goodness that nothing serious took place.
For next week, apart from havin to attend the mentoring course at Permata, Bangi, I will be the coordinator for the Program Bakti Pendidikan PETRONAS. This is a programme inspired by Tan Sri President himself. It started in Kertih in 2002, where PETRONAS give out sponsorship to rural schools where we operate and help the students excel in their studies especially in the English subject. Starting on the 16th, the schoolchildren will be entertained at Sepang International Circuit with fun activities and to put the cherry on top, havin to sit at the grandstand and watch the race on the 19th March. This year's gonna be awesome as we become the premium sponsor for the BMW-Sauber team. We fought hard for this and let's hope that this partnership will inspire success.
The day after tomorrow, another corporate and on-the-bus briefing to the delegates from Corporate Planning Department. Sometimes I feel like a stewardess doin all these kinda stuff, thee hee hee. All in a day's work, I must say. Come and visit our Petroleum Complex in Kertih, it will be an honor for me to brief you on our operations here.
The photo above is a photo of me with Taufik and Aida, on the closing day of our orientation course last month (I was chosen as the penghulu for the batch of 71 executives, bangga seh!). Fik and Aida both workin in PRSS (PETRONAS Research) in Bangi. Insya Allah, if God permits, they will tie the knot on the 30th April 2006 which is also my birthday, thee hee hee! Double the joy!
On behalf of Taufik and Aida, I would like to invite you to the wedding ceremony in Kajang (Aida's place) on Sunday, April 30th. Diorang yg suruh invite. I'll provide you with the details later. Let's pray for their happiness.

southside
i recently went down south to malacca for an interview with MMU and i must say Malacca is a beautiful state...
anyways, the trip down south was a disappointing though...firstly, the email which invited me for the interview said a post for AD, which to my understanding was Academic Division.
However, whilst being interviewed I found out that AD means Assistant Director for a Business Development in MMU....I was utterly disappointed because I was looking forward for a position in the academic division as a lecturer/tutor in MMU. but that was the start of my disappointing trip back to Kuala Lumpur...
on the way back from malacca, i decided to stopby seremban to have the best cendol ever, the cendol behind Royal Adelphi (the former Hilton) along Jalan A.S Dawood BUT the cendol stall is no longer there and there was indication is had closed for the day whatsoever, it was GONE...
fine! then i decided to take the old road from seremban back to kuala lumpur, thus i've decided to stop over at kajang (since i had to pass semenyih, broga etc) to have satay! i then looked for my favourite satay place which was Sate Abang. but my search was in vain as i found out that not only the restaurant is closed, the building was demolished as well. so i had to go Haji Samuri for my dose of satay.
so i would like to ask those who are familiar with the Kajang and Seremban area, does Sate Abang still exist? it was runned by 2 sisters and a brother i think and the brother (who makes the drinks) wears his pants quite high as a result, my family and i call him ST which stand for seluar tinggi. And also did the Cendol moved to another location or the went out of business?
but i did had fun sight seeing in Malacca though. So my fellow bloodyhell boys, jom road trip gi malacca! i'm sure ed and i would make it a photographic trip....
p.s/ i did find the place where Syad takes his bath in Kajang, Taman Sungai Jambu....
Penang Trip?
Just now us PNB MTs plus Hariz Vince, Rai and Safa met up for a game of bowling and dinner. We talked about going on a trip together...
So guys, how about a trip north to Penang? Imaan would be back by then, and I would have to do the in-law trip (hehe, marital obligations) on April 7-9, insya Allah. So if you guys come up that particular weekend, Imaan and I can give you guys a free tour. For those who didnt make it to Penang for my nuptials last year, well treat this as a second kenduri - i.e. the Penang trip minus the free food of course. And you guys have to figure out the accommodation la. But we can have some fun in Penang. And for us PNB MTs, we can treat this as a post-exam celebration.
How about that?
Those in the UK still divided to attend the Akyuem program, well this is a week after so you can actually do both (even if you dont go to the Akyuem program I don't care since I have no role anymore hehehe).

My thoughts on the oil price hike
My own thoughts on the matter: I think oil subsidies should be reduced gradually over the long term, but the 30 sen hike was a bit too much at the wrong time.
